Welcome to the Oakleaze Herd of home reared, free-range pigs. We hope the following pages will provide you with information on the Rare Breeds that make up our herd, as well as details of our range of products from Rachel’s ‘own recipe’ sausages, faggots and paté, to dry cured bacon, gammon and delicious fresh pork.
We started the herd in 2005 at Oakleaze, Ray’s childhood home in South Gloucestershire. We wanted to have a source of meat from animals which had been treated with care and respect, so our pigs enjoy a natural outdoor life, growing at their own pace in the orchards and woods. They are fed on a GM-free diet; they also find apples, acorns, and wild garlic to eat which helps to give their meat a wonderful traditional flavour.
